RAMBAN: In line with the directives of the State Drugs Controller and the District Administration, Drug Control Officer Ramban, Imtiyaz Ahmad, conducted inspections of medical shops across various villages in Banihal, including Bankoot, Kaskoot, Nowgam, Chereel, and Banihal Town. The inspection aimed to ensure compliance with regulations regarding the installation of CCTV cameras, implementation of computerized billing systems, and maintenance of psychotropic drug records.

During the inspections, two medical shops were closed down for failing to comply with the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. The inspecting team found that all other medical establishments had installed CCTV cameras and adopted computerized billing systems as mandated.

The Drug Control Officer emphasized the importance of actively monitoring CCTV footage to ensure these systems effectively deter any malpractice. The implementation of these measures is expected to enhance transparency in transactions, improve inventory management, and reinforce accountability within the district’s pharmaceutical sector.

The proactive approach of the Drug Control Department will be remained continuous in district to safeguarding public health and promoting ethical practices in the pharmaceutical trade. The department will continue to regulate and monitor pharmaceutical activities to prevent the misuse or unauthorized distribution of drugs, ensuring the well-being of the public.
