DODA: Under the aegis of the District Leprosy Society, Doda, the health department organized a series of events to observe Anti-Leprosy Day, focusing on raising awareness about leprosy and eliminating the stigma associated with the disease today.

In this connection, an awareness programme was held at the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Office, Doda, graced by CMO Doda, Dr. Om Kumar. The event highlighted the significance of early detection, treatment, and community participation in leprosy eradication. A pledge was administered to all participants, reaffirming their commitment to spreading awareness and supporting the cause.

A separate awareness session was also conducted at ANMT School, Doda, where Medical Officer (Leprosy), Dr. Javed Ahmed Parray, briefed participants on leprosy, its symptoms, treatment, and the need for collective efforts to eliminate the disease. CMO Doda, Dr. Om Kumar, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the government's initiatives for leprosy eradication and the importance of public awareness.

The event also marked the launch of "Sparsh"—a fortnight-long Leprosy Awareness Campaign, aimed at intensifying efforts to educate people across the district about leprosy prevention, early detection, and treatment. Similar awareness programmes were also conducted across all medical blocks of the district, including Assar, Bhaderwah, Gandoh, Ghat, and Thathri, ensuring widespread sensitization on this important health issue.
