GANDERBAL: Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) today participated (online) in the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, a nationwide initiative aimed at strengthening awareness, sensitisation and community participation towards achieving the goal of a TB-Free India.

The programme was organised by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, in collaboration with the University Grants Commission (UGC) as part of its initiatives for Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs). The programme was conducted across HEIs to sensitize students, faculty members and non-teaching staff about tuberculosis, its prevention, early detection, treatment and the importance of eliminating stigma associated with the disease.

At the CUKashmir, the programme was organised by Dean Students’ Welfare (DSW) and the Health Centre. Dean DSW, Dr. Jehrirul Islam, Medical Officers, Dr. Abid and Dr. Sheeba, Asst Prof. Dr. Harpal Singh, students, faculty members and non-teaching staff from all four campuses of the University participated in the programme at their respective campuses.

The programme provided the participants with an opportunity to enhance their understanding of tuberculosis and the importance of early identification of symptoms, timely diagnosis, completion of treatment, prevention of transmission and community awareness.

The DSW and Health Centre, coordinated and facilitated the participation of the University staff and students in the programme and encouraged them to actively engage with the national campaign for a TB-Free India.

A Profound Loss: JK Monitor Mourns the Passing of Founding Chairman Dr. Priya Ranjan

We at JK Monitor are profoundly saddened by the sudden demise of our Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan.IN LOVING MEMORY Dr Priya Ranjan

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
