SOPORE, KUPWARA: In continuation of sustained efforts under the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Police carried out focused inspections of medical stores and pharmacy shops in Sopore & Kupwara to ensure strict compliance with prescribed norms.

The inspections were conducted in coordination with the concerned civil departments across PD Sopore and at Mandian Keran Kupwara, with the objective of ensuring that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are being followed and that no scheduled drugs are sold without proper medical prescriptions.

During the drive, proprietors and staff of medical stores were sensitised about their legal and social responsibilities. They were strictly directed to adhere to the provisions of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, maintain proper records of sale and purchase of scheduled medicines and ensure that no psychotropic or Schedule H1 drugs are dispensed without valid prescriptions.

Chemists were clearly warned that any violation of norms, including illegal sale of prescription drugs, will invite strict legal action under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act and Drugs & Cosmetics Act.

J&K Police reiterated that alongside strong enforcement against drug trafficking, focused regulatory checks and awareness efforts is being carried out to curb misuse of pharmaceutical drugs at the source. J&K Police reaffirmed their commitment to sustained awareness, community engagement, and strict enforcement under the 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan to ensure a safer, healthier, and drug-free society.
