KISHTWAR: Under the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Pankaj Kumar Sharma, who is also the Chairman of the District Level Environment Plan Committee, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Pawan Kotwal, Member Secretary of the Committee, today chaired a meeting to review the progress achieved under the District Environment Plan.
During the meeting, various aspects of environmental management were discussed, including Solid Waste Management, Biomedical Waste Management, Plastic Waste Management, Domestic Sewerage Management and E-Waste Management.
While reviewing the status of the implementation of the Solid Waste Management Plan, the ADC directed all the concerned departments to ensure the effective implementation of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026.
He instructed all the departments to follow the prescribed procedures and dispose of waste as per the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) under the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026 and the Construction and Demolition Waste Management Rules, 2025. He further directed all the concerned departments to strictly implement the prescribed guidelines.
The ADC emphasized the need for comprehensive environmental conservation measures in the district, including extensive plantation initiatives, reduction in the use of plastic and polythene and improved waste disposal practices. Various other environmental issues were also discussed during the meeting and detailed deliberations were held.
The meeting was attended by ACP Neeraj Sharma, CEO Mirza Mumtaz Iqbal, DFO Vishal Chaudhary, DFO Mahesh Thakur, Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti Department Rohit Wadera, CEO Sanjay Dogra, DSHO Dr. Jamil Nasir besides other concerned officers and officials.
