SHOPIAN: Continuing its strict enforcement against traffic violations, Police in Shopian intensified checking drives across the district to ensure road safety and promote responsible driving habits.

During the ongoing campaign, around 128 of vehicles mostly two-wheelers, were seized, while hundreds of violators were challaned for various traffic violations, including rash and negligent driving, driving without valid documents, triple riding, riding without helmets, failure to wear seat belts and other offences under the Motor Vehicles Act.

Special naka points and mobile checking teams were deployed at key locations across the district to verify documents and take immediate action against violators. The intensified drive is aimed at enforcing traffic discipline, preventing road accidents and safeguarding the lives of commuters, pedestrians and other road users.

Police urged the public, particularly the youth, to strictly adhere to traffic rules, wear helmets while riding two-wheelers, use seat belts, avoid over-speeding and carry all necessary vehicle and driving documents.

Police reiterated its commitment to strengthening traffic enforcement and ensuring safer roads across the district and sought the cooperation of citizens in creating a responsible and disciplined traffic environment in Shopian.
