POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today chaired the monthly meeting of the District Telecom Committee (DTC) in the Conference Hall of the DC Office to review the status of telecommunication services and issues related to network connectivity and installation of mobile towers in the district.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Tahir Mustafa Malik, Executive Engineers of PWD (R&B), PMGSY and JPDCL, Chief Medical Officer, District Informatics Officer NIC, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, SDO BSNL and representatives from private service providers.

The Committee discussed the identification of suitable locations for installation of new telecommunication/mobile towers, improvement of network connectivity in uncovered and poorly connected areas and issues concerning telecom infrastructure and services across the district.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers and telecom service providers to coordinate closely and expedite the identification of suitable sites and installation of telecom towers, particularly in areas facing poor or inadequate network connectivity.

He emphasized that reliable telecommunication services are essential for public convenience, emergency communication, e-governance, education, healthcare and overall socio-economic development, especially in remote and difficult areas of the district.

The meeting also reviewed various field-level issues related to telecom infrastructure, with the concerned departments and service providers directed to take time-bound necessary action for improving connectivity across Poonch.
