ANANTNAG: District Social Welfare Office Anantnag today concluded a series of awareness and sensitisation activities under the Atal Vayoo Abhyuday Yojna (AVAY) besides IEC programmes focussed on the provisions of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007.
The activities, which commenced on February 11, 2026, culminated with a programme held at Government Higher Secondary School Akingam. The event witnessed active participation of students, younger individuals and senior citizens, aimed at strengthening intergenerational engagement and awareness on the rights and welfare of senior citizens.
On the sidelines, awareness regarding the National Mental Health Programme (NMHP) was also imparted among the participants. The programme was attended by SDPO, SHO Achabal, Principal and Lecturers of the institute, TSWOs, TSO, CSC members alongwith officials of other concerned departments.
