SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) on Sunday thanked the Chief Minister of Punjab Bhagwant Mann for his humanitarian helping hand and expressed its gratitude to the Chief Secretary K.A.P. Sinha, and the Media Advisor to the Chief Minister, Baltej Pannu, for their prompt intervention, compassionate support, and for facilitating the smooth and dignified transportation of the mortal remains of a Kashmiri student who passed away in Punjab to his native place in Kupwara.
Association said that, The student Burhan Bashir, a student of Chandigarh University was taken to a hospital in Sector 69, Mohali, where doctors declared him dead. The family subsequently reached out to JKSA for assistance in the repatriation and facilitation of the mortal remains. Following this, the National Convenor of the Association, Nasir Khuehami, spoke to the Chief Minister’s Advisor, Baltej Pannu, and Chief Secretary K.A.P. Sinha, along with other senior officials, to ensure that the matter was addressed on priority despite the late hours of the night.
The Association thanked the Punjab Chief Minister’s Office for directing the Deputy Commissioner, Mohali, and the concerned SDM to make all necessary arrangements for a dignified repatriation, providing some comfort to the family during this difficult time. JKSA also appreciated the swift response and prompt action of the administration. The Association further extended its gratitude to the SDM Kharar, DSP Kharar, SHO Kharar, and other concerned officials for their timely assistance and support to the grieving family.
Despite ongoing Eid engagements and late hours, the post-mortem was conducted during the night without delay. The Association expressed appreciation for the efforts of JKSA Chandigarh Unit President, Khan Faiq, who remained present at the SDM office, hospital until midnight, accompanied the grieving family, secured the necessary permissions, and ensured that all formalities were completed in a timely and dignified manner.
The mortal remains were subsequently transported to Kashmir via ambulance, ensuring a respectful and dignified journey home. The last rites of the deceased were performed at his native village in Handwara in the presence of family members, relatives, and locals. The Association expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. “Our thoughts and prayers are with them, and we stand in complete solidarity with the family during this painful time,” it said.
