SRINAGAR: In a concerted effort to strengthen the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking, Zonal Police Headquarters (ZPHQ) Kashmir & Range Police Headquarters (RPHQ) South Kashmir Range (SKR), in collaboration with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) J&K, organized a two-day training programme for officers investigating Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) cases. The training, held at District Police Office (DPO) Anantnag, aimed to enhance awareness, capacity building, and effective enforcement of NDPS laws among police personnel.

The programme was inaugurated by DIG SKR, Shri Javid Iqbal Matoo, in the presence of SSP Anantnag, Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy. Addressing the participants, they emphasized the increasing threat of drug abuse and the urgent need for a collective, strategic approach to combat it effectively.

Experts from law enforcement agencies, legal professionals, and health specialists conducted interactive sessions covering various aspects of the NDPS Act, investigation techniques, forensic analysis, and rehabilitation strategies for drug addicts. Senior officers, investigation officers, and field personnel actively participated, gaining valuable insights into handling narcotics cases with a legally sound and strategic approach.

Speaking at the event, DIG SKR Shri Javid Iqbal Matoo reaffirmed the commitment of Kashmir Police to proactive measures against drug-related crimes. He urged officers to apply their training in daily policing, ensuring strict enforcement of NDPS laws while maintaining a rehabilitative approach toward victims of drug abuse.

Police remain steadfast in their efforts to combat drug peddling and ensure a safer, drug-free district. Such training programmes will be regularly conducted to keep law enforcement personnel updated on evolving challenges and best practices in narcotics enforcement.
