JAMMU: BJP Spokesperson and former Vice Chairman Balbir Ram Rattan has described the inauguration of the First World Yogasana Sports Championship by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Ahmedabad as a proud moment for the nation and a reflection of India's remarkable success in taking the ancient practice of yoga to the global stage.

In a statement issued today, Balbir Ram Rattan said that yoga, which originated in India thousands of years ago, has today become a universal symbol of health, harmony, and holistic well-being. He said that the World Yogasana Championship stands as a testimony to the growing international acceptance of yoga and the leadership role played by India in promoting this invaluable heritage across the world.

Balbir said that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, yoga has received unprecedented global recognition. He recalled that the Prime Minister's initiative at the United Nations resulted in the declaration of June 21 as the International Day of Yoga, which is now observed enthusiastically in countries across the globe. The overwhelming participation witnessed every year reflects the faith that people worldwide have developed in yoga's transformative power.

The BJP leader said that the organization of the First World Yogasana Sports Championship marks a new chapter in yoga's global journey. By bringing together participants from different nations on a common platform, the championship highlights yoga's ability to transcend geographical, cultural, and linguistic boundaries while promoting peace, discipline, and healthy living.

Balbir Ram Rattan emphasized that Yogasana as a sport encourages physical fitness, mental concentration, flexibility, and self-discipline among youth. He expressed confidence that such international events would motivate young people to adopt healthier lifestyles and strengthen the culture of sports and wellness in society.

He further said that the championship demonstrates India's growing influence in shaping global conversations on preventive healthcare and holistic living. India's rich cultural traditions, he added, are increasingly being appreciated and embraced by people around the world.

Congratulating the organizers, coaches, athletes, and participating countries, Balbir expressed hope that the World Yogasana Championship would continue to expand in the coming years and emerge as one of the most prestigious international sporting events. He said that the championship not only celebrates excellence in Yogasana but also showcases India's enduring contribution to global well-being and human development. "The World Yogasana Championship is a proud reflection of India's success in taking yoga from its sacred roots to global recognition and acceptance," Balbir added.
