JAMMU: Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh has raised serious concern over non-availability of the fertilizers in Jammu region and its plain areas of Jammu and Kashmir. “The fertilizers should be provided and supplied to the farmers in a smooth manner with their consultation. However, the Govt has not been able to provide fertilizers to the farmers due to which the production of the crops has been affected,” he stated, while chairing a meeting here at the Apni Party Office, Gandhi Nagar in Jammu District.

The meeting held threadbare discussion regarding issues of the farmers, and their agricultural production that has got a hit due to the poor policy implementation. During the discussion, the Former Minister said that the Govt should ensure that fertilizers are available to the farmers, and they should not be forced to face the trouble.

Meanwhile, he also expressed his concern over the poor economic condition of the farmers because they hardly get market value of their crops from the middleman. “The farmers are given very less amount for selling their crops to the market / middleman even after putting in lots of hardships in growing the crops. The Govt should intervene and fix a maximum selling price for the farmers so that they do not face injustice,” he added.

He said that the farmers, who feed the entire country by growing a variety of crops, should get the maximum fixed price on selling their crops to the middleman or in the market that would bring stability and prosperity in their lives. Prominent among those who were present in the meeting include Fariq Nath, Bodh Raj Bhagat, Abhay Bakaya, Arun Chibber, Adv Vikram Rathore, Adv Manmeet Singh, Neelam Gupta and others.
