GULMARG: In a prompt and well-coordinated rescue operation, J&K Police in Baramulla, in collaboration with Army and Civil Administration, safely rescued 25 tourists from different parts of the country who got stranded at Sunshine Peak, Gulmarg after the helicopter providing shuttle service developed a technical snag.

The tourists had visited Sunshine Peak as part of a joyride when the helicopter, after dropping them at the location, encountered a technical issue and was unable to ferry them back. As soon as the information was received, the district administration immediately activated rescue measures and coordinated efforts with all concerned agencies.

Acting swiftly a police rescue team was immediately deputed towards Gulmarg Phase-II and kept prepared to undertake a foot rescue operation in case aerial evacuation was not possible. Subsequently, through seamless coordination among Baramulla Police, Army and Civil Administration, Army helicopters successfully managed to land at the location and evacuate all stranded tourists safely. All tourists were brought back in a healthy condition and shifted to safety.

The entire rescue operation was completed within approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, highlighting the preparedness, professionalism and effective inter-agency coordination during emergency situations. J&K Police reiterates its commitment towards public safety and timely response to emergencies, especially in challenging terrains and adverse conditions.
