POONCH: In a heart warming initiative to promote the cause of the girl child, the Department of Social Welfare today felicitated newly born baby girls at the District Hospital Poonch under the flagship programme “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” (BBBP).

A team led by District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Khalil A. Banday in the presence of Dr. Mohammed Shafiq Chohan, Medical Superintendent, gave away Baby Care Kits containing essential items for infant care and hygiene to the mothers of newly born girls. The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the department for this thoughtful gesture and the continued efforts to uplift the status of women and children in the society.
