• Awareness drives, community outreach and youth engagement

SRINAGAR: Continuing its sustained efforts under the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan, J&K Police carried out a series of impactful anti-drug awareness initiatives across Awantipora, Budgam, Baramulla & Ganderbal districts, focusing on education, community participation, and youth engagement to combat the growing menace of substance abuse.

In Awantipora, an awareness programme was organized at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Pampore by Police Station Pampore. The session aimed to educate students about the harmful effects of drug abuse, while also highlighting its social, legal, and health consequences. Officers engaged directly with students and staff, encouraging open discussions and motivating young participants to act as ambassadors in spreading awareness. The school administration appreciated the initiative and extended full support for future programmes.

Meanwhile, in Budgam, Police conducted a Police–Teacher interaction meeting at Spring Buds Educational Institute, Ompora. The meeting brought together police officials, teachers, and parents to deliberate on the increasing concerns of substance abuse among students and its behavioural impact. Emphasis was laid on early identification, counselling, and the importance of strong family communication. Police also urged parents to remain vigilant and proactive.

As part of its broader outreach, Budgam Police further organized multiple village-level Police Community Partnership Group meetings across various locations in the district. These meetings focused on strengthening police-public coordination, addressing local concerns, and promoting community involvement in tackling drug abuse at the grassroots level. Participants widely appreciated the efforts and pledged their cooperation in ensuring a safe and drug-free environment.

In Baramulla, Police organized a vibrant anti-drug bike rally from Palhallan Pattan to Goushbugh Pattan under the theme ā€œSay No to Drugs, Say Yes to Life.ā€ The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from local youth alongside police personnel, reflecting a collective commitment towards a healthier society. The event aimed to inspire young people to adopt positive lifestyles and stay away from narcotics.

In Ganderbal, Police conducted an Anti-Drug Awareness Programme & Rally in the jurisdiction of PS Safapora and PS Kheerbawani. The Rally was conducted at Safapora Market by Government College of Engineering and Technology Safapora in collaboration with Police Station Safapora. It witnessed active participation from teachers, students, police personnel, and members of the general public, who collectively raised awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of a drug-free society. In another initiative, an anti-drug awareness programme was held at Hanfia Islamia Public School, Sehpora in the jurisdiction of PS Kheerbawani, where participants were sensitized about the ill effects of substance abuse and encouraged to act as responsible citizens in eradicating this social evil.

All these programmes concluded successfully, with active community participation and strong messages against drug abuse. J&K Police reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying awareness drives, fostering community partnerships, and taking strict action against drug-related activities to build a safer, healthier, and drug-free society.
