HANDWARA: In its continued efforts to create awareness and educate the public about important legal reforms, Police in Handwara organised a comprehensive awareness programme on the newly introduced criminal laws in Police District Handwara.

The initiative was carried out through audio-visual means at prominent locations including Main Chowk Handwara and Main Chowk Vilgam, attracting a large number of citizens. Informative videos and presentations were displayed to ensure that people from all walks of life could easily understand the changes brought under the new legal framework.

The programme highlighted the key provisions of the new criminal laws, with special emphasis on sections that directly concern the safety, dignity, and rights of common citizens. Police officials explained how these reforms are aimed at delivering speedy justice, strengthening law enforcement, and ensuring better protection for vulnerable groups including women, children, and the elderly.

Citizens present at the programme expressed appreciation for the initiative and acknowledged the importance of being aware of the legal provisions that safeguard their rights and responsibilities. J&K Police also encouraged participants to share the knowledge gained with their families and communities so that the message of legal awareness reaches wider sections of society.

Through this public outreach, J&K Police reaffirmed its commitment towards community policing, transparency, and building a stronger bond of trust with the people. The department further assured that such awareness programmes will continue in the future to ensure maximum public benefit.
