BARAMULLA: In a continued effort to strengthen police-public relations and intensify the fight against drug abuse under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, Police in Baramulla organised 31 ‘Thana Diwas/PCPG Meetings’ across various parts of the district to promote public participation, awareness and collective responsibility towards building a drug-free society.

The outreach programmes were conducted at multiple locations including Suhail Colony Aribab, Jetty, Kitchama, Gantamulla Payeen, Dardpora, Shesti Colony, Baghat Mohalla, Nehalpora, Newran, Singpora, Hajam Mohalla, Khore Sherabad, Tangpora, Suriapora, Kawchak, Pechhar, Watergam, Chanpora, Katibug, Druroo, Krishama, Sochil Pathri, Nambalnar, Saidpora, Chandanwari, Choolan Kalsan, Boniyar, Salamabad Dachina AB, Dardkote and Basgran.

During these interactive sessions, police officers engaged directly with local residents and provided a platform for the public to raise their grievances and suggestions. Issues related to water supply, electricity, drainage, road connectivity, macadamization, tenant verification, cybercrime awareness and the growing menace of drug abuse were discussed in detail.

Special emphasis was laid on the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, with officers urging citizens, parents, teachers and youth to work collectively in identifying and preventing drug-related activities in their areas. Awareness was also imparted regarding cyber safety, public security measures and the importance of timely reporting of incidents through Dial-112. The public was assured that all genuine issues would be taken up with the concerned departments for prompt redressal.

The meetings witnessed active participation from citizens, who appreciated the proactive role of J&K Police in addressing public concerns and strengthening trust, coordination and police-public partnership at the grassroots level. J&K Police remains committed to public welfare, community engagement and the collective mission of building a safe, secure and drug-free society.
