KERI, JAMMU: A significant step toward better community health was taken today as the People's Hut Foundation and Humanity Aid successfully organized a free eye check-up camp at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Keri. The initiative, generously supported by Sharp Sight Eye Hospital Jammu, provided essential eye care services to residents and students of the area.

The comprehensive eye camp saw a remarkable turnout, with a total of 287 patients availing the free check-up and consultation services. The event was formally inaugurated by Dr. Rohit Koul and Er. Swarnveer Singh Jaral in presence of Sh. Nishatar Singh, Sarpanch Keri, who emphasized the importance of accessible health services in rural areas.

Local coordination was key to the camp's success. Shri Sanjeev Anand, Senior Lecturer at GHSS Keri, coordinated the entire event under the guidance of School Principal, Mtr. Razia. Effective public mobilization was ensured by Shri Nishatar Singh, Sarpanch of Keri, whose efforts guaranteed a broad public reach for the much-needed services.Sharp Sight Eye Hospital Jammu deployed a highly skilled specialist team, including dedicated doctors, optometrists, and eye technicians, to conduct thorough examinations. Their team, featuring members like Mr. Rahul Kumar, Mr. Deepak Sharma, Mr. Ajay Kumar, and Mr. Zahid, worked tirelessly to screen patients for various eye conditions.

The overall organization and smooth functioning of the camp were attributed to the dedicated efforts of the core organizing team members, including Arun Rana, Sagar Hussain, Adil Khan, Reetu Baldotra, and Ms. Saraswati, alongside other committed volunteers.

"We are incredibly pleased with the response from the Keri community," said Dr. Rohit Koul, Director and CEO of People's Hut Foundation. "Our collaboration with Humanity Aid and the vital support from Sharp Sight Eye Hospital Jammu allowed us to address a crucial health need, underscoring our commitment to accessible healthcare for all."

Swarnveer Singh Jaral, Chairman Humanity Aid added that the overwhelming response from the community highlights the importance of such medical camps in bridging the gap between specialized healthcare facilities and those who struggle to access them. He also promised to extend full support to such camps and these shall be organized in the future to cater to the needs of the underprivileged sections of society.
