SRINAGAR: On the eve of the annual Urs of the revered saint Hazrat Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA), the Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir, Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, delivered a sermon at the saint’s shrine at Dastgeer sb Khanyar.

In his address, Mirwaiz paid glowing tribute to Hazrat Mahboob-e-Subhani (RA), describing him as a beacon of guidance whose teachings continue to inspire millions across the world.

He said that one of the key lessons from the life of this great Sufi saint is self-reform and purification of the heart and soul, which leads a believer to moral excellence and closeness to the Almighty.

Mirwaiz said that in today’s world, where hatred, bias, and intolerance have become widespread, it is essential for Muslims to return to the true teachings of Islam and its message of love, compassion, and service to humanity.

He emphasised that a Muslim’s heart can never harbour hatred or ill-will towards anyone, for Islam teaches respect, empathy, and goodwill for all of Allah’s creation. He urged people to imbibe these timeless values in their personal and collective lives, so that society can move towards understanding, and moral renewal. A large number of devotees, including women, attended the sermon and listened with deep devotion to the Mirwaiz’s message of faith, unity, and self-purification.
