KATHUA: To provide specialized treatment to people in remote areas, the Directorate of Health Services Jammu organized a Mega Surgical Camp at Sub District Hospitals (SDH) Bani.

The healthcare services camp was held under the guidance of   Director Health Services Jammu, Dr. Abdul Hamid Zargar and in presence of Deputy Director Dentistry Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Chief Medical Officer Kathua Dr Vijay Raina and Sub Divisional Magistrate Bani Sandeep Sharma.

Block Medical Officer Dr Dev Raj Mishra coordinated the camp in collaboration with the super specialist doctors from the Rotary International Club. The inaugural ceremony was held in Sub District Hospital Bani.

During the camp, 96 patients were registered for different surgical operations of which 18 patients were advised to attend SDH Basohli for cataract surgery and 25 patients to attend GMC Kathua for different types of surgery. Remaining 53 patients are being operated on in SDH Bani. As of now, 06 surgeries were conducted successfully. The management inspected by the visiting team has been found satisfactory.

A team of surgeons, anesthetists and paramedical staff are conducting the general and minor surgical procedures, catering to a large number of patients. Dr. Sanjay Sharma reviewed the arrangements and appreciated the dedication of the medical staff for ensuring quality healthcare delivery in these far-flung areas. He emphasized that such camps play a vital role in providing timely treatment and reducing the referrals to distant tertiary hospitals.

The local population expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Directorate of Health Services Jammu for organizing the camp and bringing specialized medical care to their doorstep.
