• MLA Vijay Kumar motivates field functionaries to strengthen Poshan Maah Mission

KATHUA: A mega awareness programme under Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2025-26 was today organized by Poshan Project Hiranagar with the guiding theme “Sahi Poshan, Desh Roshan.” The programme was attended by Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Hiranagar, Vijay Kumar, and Sub Divisional Magistrate Hiranagar, Phulail Singh Bandral.

As part of the event, a skit was presented by officials of Poshan Project Hiranagar highlighting the role of Anganwadi Centres in ensuring nutrition, health and overall development of beneficiaries, particularly pregnant women, lactating mothers and children aged 6 months to 6 years.

Resource persons also sensitized participants on the importance of mainstreaming men’s role in Anganwadi activities and preventing childhood obesity. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Hiranagar urged Sanginis and Sahayikas to focus on promoting healthy eating habits, reducing lifestyle-related diseases, strengthening early childhood care and education, encouraging breastfeeding and complementary feeding, adopting environmental sustainability through the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, and ensuring active involvement of men in family nutrition and care giving.

SDM Hiranagar emphasized the collective role of Anganwadi Centres in supporting mothers, ensuring proper nutrition for every child, and building a healthier society. He directed supervisors to regularly inspect AWCs for effective implementation of Poshan initiatives.

Stalls were set up by the Ayush Department, along with a health camp for Sanginis, Sahayikas and sanitation workers. Anganwadi Sanginis also displayed millet-based and complementary food items during the programme.
