• Awareness programmes, pledge ceremonies and outreach activities organised across district

KATHUA: As part of the ongoing ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan’, a series of awareness and outreach activities were organised across various parts of Kathua district to sensitise the public about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

Awareness programmes, pledge ceremonies, documentary screenings and community outreach campaigns were conducted by different government departments, educational institutions, local bodies and field functionaries at various locations including Hiranagar, Billawar, Ramkote, Mahanpur, Nagrota Gujroo, Phinter and other areas of the district.

During the programmes, awareness lectures and interactive sessions were held with students, youth, workers and members of the general public, highlighting the social, economic and health-related consequences of substance abuse. Participants were encouraged to become ambassadors of change by spreading awareness and supporting collective efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society.

Municipal Committee Billawar organised multiple awareness activities across its jurisdiction, while several educational institutions conducted awareness sessions and documentary screenings to educate students about the dangers of addiction and the importance of making informed and responsible life choices. Awareness-cum-pledge drives were also organised in industrial units and community spaces, where participants pledged their support towards building a drug-free society.

The programmes witnessed active participation from officers, officials, students, staff members and local residents, reflecting growing public support for the anti-drug movement. Speakers on the occasion emphasised that collective action, community participation and sustained awareness are crucial for achieving the objective of a ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir’.

As per the plan, departments and institutions to continue awareness activities under the ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan’ in coming days to strengthen the fight against drug abuse and promote a healthier, safer and drug-free society.
