JAMMU: The J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL), in collaboration with the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Patiala, today organised the Sanskritik Yatra–Sindhu Darshan Festival at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu.

MLA Jammu West Arvind Gupta graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The festival showcased the rich and diverse cultural heritage of India through folk performances by artists from different states of the country.

Welcoming the guests and artists, Assistant Director NZCC Patiala Ravinder Sharma stressed the role of such festivals in strengthening national unity through cultural exchange.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Arvind Gupta lauded the initiative and urged that such programmes reach the maximum number of people, especially the younger generation. Additional Secretary JKAACL Sonali Arun Gupta presented the vote of thanks.

The programme featured folk performances from eight states: Lairuhba from Manipur, Dandia Raas from Gujarat, Gondhal from Maharashtra, Dogri folk dance from Jammu & Kashmir, Goti Pua from Odisha, Kalbelia from Rajasthan and Bhangra from Punjab, drawing an enthusiastic response from art lovers, students and cultural enthusiasts. Renowned folk and Sufi singer Manak Ali also performed. Compere Sanjeev Shad conducted the proceedings

The Sanskritik Yatra–Sindhu Darshan Festival will continue tomorrow, with the same programme being presented at DPL Ground, Ramban, at 3:00 pm, offering audiences another opportunity.

When he appointed me Editor-in-Chief of JK Monitor, he never treated me as an employee, but as a younger brother, offering warmth, trust, respect and invaluable guidance. I will always be grateful for his faith in me, his encouragement and the lessons he shared.

Dr. Ranjan was a rare and noble soul—humble, compassionate, intellectually brilliant and always willing to help others. A visionary thinker, he believed in using knowledge and abilities to make a meaningful difference. His influence lives on through the people he guided, the work he inspired and the countless lives he touched.

For me, he will always be the elder brother who believed in me and guided me with affection. I will cherish his kindness and lessons forever. May his soul rest in eternal peace. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

We at JK Monitor are profoundly saddened by the sudden demise of our Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan. IN LOVING MEMORY Dr Priya Ranjan

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
