BARAMULLA: As part of its community outreach and public awareness initiative, J&K Police in collaboration with Govt. Higher Secondary School Chandoosa and Murtaza Memorial Educational Institute, organized a Traffic Awareness programme near Sumo Stand Chandoosa.

The programme aimed at sensitizing students, drivers, and local commuters about the importance of road safety, adherence to traffic rules, and responsible driving. Speakers highlighted the role of citizens in preventing accidents and maintaining smooth traffic flow.

Students and participants actively engaged in the activity, raising awareness through interactive sessions, demonstrations, and pledge-taking for safe road practices. J&K Police is committed to strengthen police-public relations, especially by engaging with the youth through awareness and outreach programs.

When he appointed me Editor-in-Chief of JK Monitor, he never treated me as an employee, but as a younger brother, offering warmth, trust, respect and invaluable guidance. I will always be grateful for his faith in me, his encouragement and the lessons he shared.

Dr. Ranjan was a rare and noble soul—humble, compassionate, intellectually brilliant and always willing to help others. A visionary thinker, he believed in using knowledge and abilities to make a meaningful difference. His influence lives on through the people he guided, the work he inspired and the countless lives he touched.

For me, he will always be the elder brother who believed in me and guided me with affection. I will cherish his kindness and lessons forever. May his soul rest in eternal peace. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
