HANDWARA: In its continued efforts to strengthen police-public relations and promote awareness among youth, J&K Police today organised awareness sessions for students at Police Station Handwara, Police Station Vilgam & Police Station Qalamabad.

These initiatives were aimed to educate the students about the functioning, structure, and responsibilities of the police department. During the session, the students were given a detailed briefing on the role and duties of the police, the organisational structure and day-to-day working of a police station, and the importance of maintaining law and order in society.

Police officers also explained the various types of records maintained at the police station, including First Information Reports (FIRs), daily diaries, case files, and arrest registers. The session was interactive and informative, providing students with a valuable insight into police functioning and law enforcement mechanisms.

In addition, the students were exposed to different types of equipment used by police personnel and familiarised with the standard procedures followed in investigations, record-keeping, and crime prevention. The officers emphasised that such programmes not only increase awareness but also build trust and cooperation between the police and the community. The participating students expressed gratitude to J&K Police for organising the sessions and appreciated the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge about the police system.

J&K Police reaffirmed its commitment to organising similar awareness programmes in the future, ensuring that the younger generation remains informed, empowered, and engaged in community-oriented policing.
