AWANTIPORA: In continuation of public outreach and legal awareness initiatives, J&K Police in Awantipora organized an awareness programme on three New Criminal Laws at Govt. High School Pastoona Tral.

The programme aimed to inform general public about the recent amendments and additions to the criminal laws, ensuring that they are well-aware and compliant with the legal framework. During the session, Senior Prosecuting Officer Police District Awantipora Shri Umer Mansoor & Incharge Police Post Aripal elucidated the nuances of the new laws, providing clarity on their implications and emphasizing the importance of adherence to legal statutes for the maintenance of law and order.

The initiative witnessed active participation from the General Public who engaged in interactive sessions, seeking clarifications and expressing their queries regarding the legal provisions discussed. Police remains committed to community engagement and legal awareness as part of its citizen-centric policing approach.

When he appointed me Editor-in-Chief of JK Monitor, he never treated me as an employee, but as a younger brother, offering warmth, trust, respect and invaluable guidance. I will always be grateful for his faith in me, his encouragement and the lessons he shared.

Dr. Ranjan was a rare and noble soul—humble, compassionate, intellectually brilliant and always willing to help others. A visionary thinker, he believed in using knowledge and abilities to make a meaningful difference. His influence lives on through the people he guided, the work he inspired and the countless lives he touched.

For me, he will always be the elder brother who believed in me and guided me with affection. I will cherish his kindness and lessons forever. May his soul rest in eternal peace. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
