PULWAMA: Continuing its aggressive and sustained campaign under the ongoing 100 Days Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, J&K Police carried out a series of intensified enforcement, preventive, and awareness measures across different areas of the district Pulwama, reflecting its firm resolve to eliminate the drug menace through strict action and public participation.

As part of the intensified anti-drug enforcement drive, Alhuda Medical Store was sealed for operating in contravention of prescribed SOPs related to regulated drugs. The action was taken during an inspection conducted by Pulwama Police in coordination with Drug control department as part of the ongoing crackdown against misuse of pharmaceutical drugs. Further strengthening the offensive against narcotics networks, Pulwama Police conducted extensive vehicle checking at multiple locations within the district to monitor suspicious movement and prevent transportation of contraband substances. Simultaneously, intensive house searches were carried out in the residences of suspected drug peddlers to maintain strict vigil and dismantle local drug networks.

Continuing the drive against illegal cultivation, poppy straw cultivated alongside vegetable crops at Bellow by one Nisar Ahmad Dar resident of Bellow, as well as a few poppy straw plants grown by one Hilal Ahmad Dar resident of Rahmoo, were identified and destroyed on the spot. Preventive legal action was also initiated in the matter to discourage illegal cultivation activities under the NDPS Act. On the awareness front, Pulwama Police, in collaboration with Career Care Institution Newa, organised a major drug awareness programme under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan to educate students about the harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of building a drug-free society. As part of the initiative, an anti-drug awareness rally carrying awareness messages was also organised to spread awareness among the general public, witnessing active participation from students and faculty members.

Additionally, anti-drug awareness programmes were conducted at Government Higher Secondary School Drubgam and Islamic Education Institute Pahoo, where students and participants were sensitized about the social, psychological, legal, and health-related consequences of drug abuse and encouraged to actively support the anti-drug mission.

Police reiterates its unwavering commitment to continue strict enforcement, preventive action, and sustained awareness initiatives under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan and urges the public to actively cooperate by sharing information related to drug trafficking, substance abuse, or illegal cultivation activities.
