UDHAMPUR: An Induction programme for Freshers Batch (2025-26) of MBBS students was hosted today on the makeshift campus of Government Medical College & Associate Hospital Udhampur. The ceremony started with a welcome address by the Principal Prof. Dr. Parmod Kalsotra. Addressing the students of the new batch, the Principal highlighted various aspects of MBBS course.

This was followed by White coat and Stethoscope adorning ceremony. Later, the students were administered Charak Shapath. The ceremony was attended by the faculty members along with senior officers of the Administration, Accounts section and Establishment. The induction ceremony also involved interaction with the parents of the students with the Principal facilitating two way feedback.

Earlier, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Parmod Kalsotra inaugurated the event with the lighting of ceremonial lamp in presence of Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Sharma (MEU Coordinator), Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Sadhu (HOD Anaesthesia), Dr. Gurmeet Kour (HOD PSM), Dr.Nishu Priya (HOD OBG), Dr. Lokesh Gupta (FA/CAO), Dr. Sanjeev Gupta (Medical Superintendent, AH GMC Udhampur) along with other faculty members.

When he appointed me Editor-in-Chief of JK Monitor, he never treated me as an employee, but as a younger brother, offering warmth, trust, respect and invaluable guidance. I will always be grateful for his faith in me, his encouragement and the lessons he shared.

Dr. Ranjan was a rare and noble soul—humble, compassionate, intellectually brilliant and always willing to help others. A visionary thinker, he believed in using knowledge and abilities to make a meaningful difference. His influence lives on through the people he guided, the work he inspired and the countless lives he touched.

For me, he will always be the elder brother who believed in me and guided me with affection. I will cherish his kindness and lessons forever. May his soul rest in eternal peace. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

We at JK Monitor are profoundly saddened by the sudden demise of our Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan. IN LOVING MEMORY Dr Priya Ranjan

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
