JAMMU: The Department of Physics and Astronomical Sciences, Central University of Jammu, organized the Induction Program 2025 on Tuesday to welcome newly admitted students of the Integrated B.Sc. (Hons.)–M.Sc. and M.Sc. (Physics) programs. The one-day program aimed to familiarize the freshers with the academic environment, research opportunities, and institutional ethos of the University.

The program was held under the dynamic leadership of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Central University of Jammu, who motivated students to pursue academic excellence with sincerity and integrity, while contributing meaningfully to society. Prof. Vinay Kumar, Dean, School of Basic and Applied Sciences, and Head of the Department of Physics and Astronomical Sciences, introduced the vision, mission, and academic strengths of the department. Prof. Suram Singh, Dean, Academic Affairs, encouraged the students to adopt a spirit of inquiry and make the best use of the opportunities available at the University.

Throughout the day, sessions covered the academic curriculum, examination system, research facilities, laboratories, and student support services such as the central library and placement cell. Students were also sensitized to professional ethics, discipline, and the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP-2020).

Faculties and research scholars interacted with the freshers, sharing experiences and offering career guidance. The students expressed appreciation for the program, noting that it provided them with valuable insights into emerging fields such as Nanoscience, Condensed Matter Physics, Quantum Technologies, and Astronomy.

The induction program concluded with a valedictory session, where faculty members encouraged the freshers to pursue both academic and extracurricular activities for holistic growth. The Department extended its gratitude to the University administration, faculty, and student volunteers for their support in making the event a success. The day ended with group photographs of all faculty members along with the newly inducted students, marking a memorable start to their academic journey.
