BUDGAM: As part of the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), District Administration Budgam conducted a series of awareness, enforcement, and community engagement activities across the district to strengthen the fight against drug abuse and illicit cultivation.

The Excise Department Budgam, with the assistance of the Revenue Department, carried out a destruction drive at Village Mazhama, Tehsil Magam, and eradicated wild cannabis spread over 3 kanals and 4 marlas along roadsides, irrigation land, and riverbanks. The department also conducted a survey and awareness campaign in Village Bugam, Tehsil Chadoora, covering around 65 kanals, during which 2 kanals of wild bhung cultivation were identified. Awareness material was distributed and locals were sensitized about the harmful effects of drug abuse.

The Health Department, in collaboration with the ICDS team, organized an NMBA awareness programme at Shogapora, while a drugs awareness programme was conducted at Khag with the participation of officials from various departments, social activists, chemists, and senior citizens.

Further strengthening the campaign, the Doodganga Range of Pir Panjal Forest Division organized awareness programmes at Lashkhalan Buzgoo and Nilnag, where participants pledged to lead a drug-free life and spread awareness about the adverse effects of substance abuse. A plantation drive under the theme "Ek Ped Nashe Ke Virudh" and a green rally in collaboration with Government High School Buzgoo Nilnag were also organized to promote a healthy and drug-free society.

The District Administration Budgam remains committed to creating awareness, mobilizing communities, and eliminating the menace of drug abuse through sustained outreach and enforcement initiatives under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
