JAMMU/SRINAGAR: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) marked the 11th International Yoga Day with full fervor and patriotic spirit across Jammu and Kashmir, with its senior leadership participating in yoga sessions held at iconic locations, highlighting the significance of yoga in promoting a healthy lifestyle and mental well-being.

In a symbolic and highly inspiring event, BJP Jammu & Kashmir President Sat Sharma (CA), Leader of Opposition in J&K Assembly and BJP J&K General Secretary Sunil Sharma, BJP General Secretary and MLA Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, MLA Ranbir Singh Pathania, and MLA Dilip Singh Parihar joined hundreds of participants for a yoga session at the historic Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower) in Lal Chowk, Srinagar. The event showcased a powerful message of unity, discipline, and the universal appeal of yoga cutting across regions and ideologies.

Speaking on the occasion, Sat Sharma said, “Yoga is India’s timeless gift to the world. It is a symbol of our ancient wisdom and a modern-day tool to promote physical fitness, mental peace, and social harmony. By performing yoga at the heart of Kashmir, we are reinforcing the message of peace, wellness, and cultural unity.”

Sunil Sharma, echoing similar sentiments, said, “Today’s yoga session at Lal Chowk is not just a health initiative; it’s a statement of inclusiveness and shared culture. We want to promote yoga in every home of Jammu and Kashmir and make it a daily practice among the youth to combat stress, addiction, and unhealthy lifestyles.”

In another major event held in Doda, BJP General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul led a large-scale yoga session with enthusiastic participation from party karyakartas, local citizens, and officials. The event was part of the state-wide celebrations under the theme “Yoga for Self and Society”.

Addressing the gathering, Ashok Koul stated, “Yoga is not just an exercise; it is a philosophy of balanced living. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yoga has received global recognition. It is heartening to see the people of Kishtwar turning out in large numbers today to embrace this age-old Indian discipline.”

Throughout the Union Territory, BJP leaders, workers, and supporters organized and participated in yoga events at district, mandal, and booth levels, making International Yoga Day a mass movement once again in the spirit of Seva, Sanskriti, and Swabhiman.
