DODA: Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women (Sankalp HEW) and One Stop Centre (OSC), under the guidance of the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO), organised a menstrual hygiene awareness programme today at Thanala, Bhaderwah.

During the event sanitary napkins were distributed among women and adolescent girls. The initiative aimed to promote safe menstrual practices and eliminating the stigma associated with menstruation, particularly in rural areas.

During the programme, participants were sensitised about the importance of maintaining menstrual hygiene including regular changing of sanitary pads and proper disposal to prevent infections and health complications.

The team also highlighted the importance of educating adolescent girls about their menstrual cycle and encouraging open conversations to foster awareness and confidence. Myths and misconceptions related to menstruation were addressed to develop a healthy and informed mindset within the community.

The session also raised awareness about various government schemes aimed at improving women’s health and welfare, motivating them to benefit from these initiatives. Residents of the area participated enthusiastically, acknowledging the significance of adopting hygienic menstrual practices. The initiative not only provided essential supplies but also empowered women and girls with vital knowledge and dignity.
