• DC stresses open dialogue, collaborative learning and sustained reading habits

BANDIPORA: The District Knowledge Centre, Bandipora, organised an engaging session of the 'Nun Chai Book Club' under the “Noon Chai Talks” Book Reading Initiative, aimed at promoting the habit of reading, fostering intellectual curiosity and encouraging meaningful exchange of ideas among participants.

On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, emphasised that the primary objective of the initiative is to inculcate a sustained reading habit and nurture a vibrant reading culture across the district. She stressed that the Book Club should serve as an open platform for discussion and shared learning rather than a conventional lecture-based programme, enabling participants to interact as equals, express their views freely and learn from one another.

Chief Planning Officer (CPO), Bandipora, Mohommad Maqbool, also shared his perspectives during the interaction, enriching the discussion with his insights. Prof. G.M. Khan and Kaisar Bashir, who moderated the session, shared valuable insights into effective reading practices and innovative approaches, including the Jigsaw Reading technique. They highlighted the importance of interactive and collaborative methods to make reading more engaging, participatory and meaningful.

The session highlighted that reading goes beyond the acquisition of information, serving as a means to strengthen critical thinking, broaden perspectives and cultivate a lifelong pursuit of knowledge.

The emphasis on open dialogue and collective participation reflected the spirit of the Book Club, where every participant is encouraged to contribute and engage in meaningful discussions.

Through the initiative, the District Knowledge Centre, Bandipora, aims to strengthen the culture of reading, promote intellectual engagement and create opportunities for collaborative learning among students and the wider community. The programme was attended, among others, by District Programme Officer Yaar Ali Khan, Chief Education Officer, writers, book lovers and other participants.
