JAMMU: Reaffirming the BJP’s commitment to standing with people in times of distress, J&K BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma (CA), accompanied by MLA Ch Vikram Randhawa, visited Shiv Market near Jammu Railway Station to assess the damage caused by a devastating fire that gutted shops and inflicted massive losses on traders.

The leaders interacted with affected shopkeepers, assessed the destruction and assured them of all possible assistance. Expressing deep concern, Sat Sharma said the fire had wiped out years of hard work, hard-earned savings and livelihoods, leaving several families facing an uncertain future, particularly during the ongoing festive season.

“The traders of Shiv Market have suffered a devastating blow, with years of hard work and their savings reduced to ashes in moments. We cannot allow these families to feel abandoned in their hour of distress. The BJP stands with people when they face the toughest challenges and will make every sincere effort to help them,” Sat Sharma said.

Sharma assured the traders that he would take up this matter with the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and pursue every possible avenue to secure financial relief for the affected traders. Whether through an appropriate relief fund, assistance under an available government scheme, or a special relief and rehabilitation package from the UT government, we will press for all feasible options, he said.

Sat Sharma asked the administration to assess the losses promptly and extend all permissible assistance. He reiterated that the BJP would pursue the matter with the concerned authorities to ensure that the genuine demands of the affected traders receive due attention.

Ch Vikram Randhawa expressed solidarity with the victims, stating that the tragedy had reduced years of hard work and valuable merchandise to ashes. He assured the shopkeepers that their genuine demands would be raised with the concerned departments and efforts made to facilitate relief and compensation. District President Naresh Singh Jasrotia, senior leaders Parduman Singh, Gourav Balgotra, Vikrant Gupta and others were also present.
