- Warns that abandoning Vedic teachings and disciplined spiritual learning has led to growing unrest and suffering in society
KATHUA: On the 27th day of the ongoing 78-day Yagyanushthan dedicated to all four Vedas at Ved Mandir, Yol, Swami Ram Swarup Ji, Yogacharya, explained the essence of Rigveda Mantra 1/22/3 and emphasized that true knowledge can only be attained through proper guidance from a learned teacher.
Addressing devotees and disciples, Swami Ji said that knowledge cannot arise on its own without a knowledgeable guide and a sincere seeker willing to learn. He stressed that human beings should continuously listen to and learn Vedic wisdom from learned scholars and saints.
Explaining the origin of Vedic knowledge, he said that at the beginning of creation, when no guru or learned sage existed, the Almighty Himself imparted the knowledge of the four Vedas to the four ancient Rishis ā Agni, Vayu, Aditya, and Angira. Referring to Yog Shastra Sutra 1/26, he said that God is the first Guru of the Rishis. Since the Supreme Being is formless and has no physical mouth to speak, He revealed the divine knowledge directly into the hearts of the four Rishis through His supreme power.
Swami Ji further stated that Brahma Ji later became the disciple of these four Rishis and acquired the knowledge of the Vedas from them, thereby initiating the Guru-Shishya tradition that continues to this day. He urged people to continue following this sacred tradition by learning Vedic knowledge from enlightened and disciplined scholars and applying it in daily life for peace and happiness.
He expressed concern that modern society has abandoned the Vedic Guru-Shishya tradition and adopted arbitrary forms of worship, which, according to him, has angered the Almighty. Citing Rigveda Mantra 10/125/4, he said that the consequences of deviating from Vedic teachings are visible in the form of wars, violence, theft, injustice against women, hunger, natural disasters, storms, earthquakes, and widespread suffering across the world.
Swami Ram Swarup Ji appealed to humanity to once again embrace Vedic wisdom and the Guru-Shishya tradition established by Brahma Ji to restore peace, harmony, and happiness in society. He warned that if mankind continues to ignore this path, future generations may face even greater hardships and suffering.
