SRINAGAR: In the just culminated Royal Spring Golf Course (RSGC) Handicap Challenge Cup, Majid Khan emerged as the champion. RSGC Handicap Challenge Cup came to a close after an intense five days competition that witnessed outstanding victory of Majid Khan. His determination and skill have truly shone through! While Zubair H Zargar was the runner up.

The golf tournament saw an impressive lineup of talented golfers, and the competition was fierce. Majid Khan showed remarkable performance throughout the tournament showcasing his exceptional abilities and unwavering focus, culminating in a well-deserved victory. Ghalib Mohi ud Din, Secretary of RSGC congratulated the winner and said, “The hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship have been exemplary, and have made us all proud.”

Kudos to all the opponents for putting up a formidable challenge and making this tournament exciting till the very end. Your sportsmanship and competitive spirit was truly commendable, adding to the excitement and prestige of the event, he added. The tournament was played over five days on a knockout basis, with 30 players participating and a total of 39 matches. The final of the tournament was played on the 13th of October, 2024.

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
