TRAL: The Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), in collaboration with Government Degree College Tral, organised a District-Level Startup Idea Challenge and Boot Camp under the J&K Startup Idea Challenge 2.0.

The programme organised with the theme Ignite Ideas, Build Startups, Create Impact aimed to nurture creativity among students and aspiring entrepreneurs and equip them with the confidence and support needed to transform innovative ideas into viable business ventures. It forms part of JKEDI’s broader initiative under the J&K Startup Policy 2024–27 to foster a robust startup ecosystem across the Union Territory through district-level boot camps.

Distinguished guests present on the occasion included Chand Kishore Sharma, Joint Director, JKEDI; Prof. Jasvinder Singh, Principal, Government Degree College Tral; Raiyees Manzoor, District Nodal Offcier, JKEDI Pulwama; Mohd Ayoub Joo, Chief Manager, Cluster Office Pulwama, J&K Bank; Prof. Rafiq Ahmad Khan, HOD Physics, GDC Tral; Dr. Umar Amin, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, GDC Tral; Arshid, successful entrepreneur from New Hatric Bakery; Nazir Ahmad Mir, Senior Faculty Member, ITI Tral; Tariq Beigh, Block MIS Officer, NRLM Tral; along with other dignitaries, faculty members and guests.

The programme provided a platform and starting point for students to begin their entrepreneurial journey. An idea today, with the right support, can grow into something remarkable tomorrow.

Students pitched their startup ideas before a panel of experts. The most promising ones will be shortlisted for intensive mentoring, pitch training and the Grand Finale of the J&K Startup Idea Challenge 2.0. Selected innovators will receive opportunities for mentorship, incubation support and pathways to convert their concepts into sustainable ventures.

The event concluded by reminding participants that every successful startup begins with the determination to take the first step. The organisers expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members and students for their enthusiastic participation and reiterated JKEDI and GDC Tral’s commitment to empowering the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to become job creators rather than job seekers.
