BARAMULLA: An inaugural ceremony of the Inter District Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament was organized at Showkat Ali Stadium in Baramulla. The tournament being organized by the Youth Services and Sports Department Kashmir witnessed enthusiastic participation from almost nine districts across the Kashmir province in the under-15 age category.

The tournament is being conducted under the supervision of Rashid Kohli, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports Kashmir, and is hosted by the Department of Youth Services and Sports Baramulla. The inaugural ceremony was a grand affair, graced by the Principal of GDC Boys Baramulla, DYSSO Baramulla, and other distinguished dignitaries from the department.

The opening ceremony began with the traditional sports pledge, fostering a spirit of sportsmanship and fair play among the young athletes. Principal GDC Boys Baramulla and DYSSO Baramulla welcomed all participants, encouraging them to give their best and enjoy the spirit of competition.

The Inter District Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament aims to promote youth sports and provide a platform for budding footballers to showcase their talent. The event is expected to witness intense and exciting matches over the coming days, reflecting the vibrant sports culture of Jammu & Kashmir.

Dr. Ranjan was a rare and noble soul—humble, compassionate, intellectually brilliant and always willing to help others. A visionary thinker, he believed in using knowledge and abilities to make a meaningful difference. His influence lives on through the people he guided, the work he inspired and the countless lives he touched.

For me, he will always be the elder brother who believed in me and guided me with affection. I will cherish his kindness and lessons forever. May his soul rest in eternal peace. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
