JAMMU: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu & Kashmir General Secretary and Convenor of the Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan, Baldev Singh Billawaria, chaired an important organisational meeting to review the preparations and chalk out the roadmap for the upcoming programmes being organised to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Ji, in accordance with the directions of BJP J&K President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma at the BJP Headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
BJP Vice Presidents Bharat Bhushan and Rashpal Verma, along with senior party functionaries, workers and other prominent members, attended the meeting. Detailed discussions were held on ensuring that the upcoming programmes are organised in an effective, comprehensive and inclusive manner, with maximum public participation. Emphasis was laid on ensuring the participation of people from all sections of society and taking the timeless message of equality, brotherhood, humanity and social harmony given by Sant Guru Ravidas Ji to every section of society.
Addressing the meeting, Baldev Singh Billawaria said that the BJP is commemorating the historic birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Ji across the country through the Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan. He said Guru Ravidas Ji dedicated his life to the upliftment of society and inspired people to rise above caste-based discrimination, social divisions and inequality, and follow the path of humanity, equality and fraternity.
Billawaria said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the spirit of âSabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayasâ is strengthening the ideals of social harmony, equality and inclusive development. He said continuous efforts are being made to bring the last person in the social and economic hierarchy into the mainstream of development and to ensure dignity, empowerment and opportunities for deprived and needy sections of society.
Targeting the Congress, Billawaria said that for decades, the party failed to accord due recognition and respect to the contributions and ideals of saints, great personalities and social reformers. He alleged that Congress politics gave greater prominence to appeasement than to the values of the saint tradition and the civilisational ethos of India.
âIn contrast, the BJP is working to take the thoughts and teachings of great saints like Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Ji to every section of society and strengthen the values of equality, humanity and social harmony,â he said. Billawaria emphasised that the Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan is not merely about organising programmes, but about strengthening mutual respect, fraternity, unity and social harmony among all sections of society.
He informed that under the Samrasta Kalash Vandan Yatra, sacred soil from the birthplace of Sant Guru Ravidas Ji in Varanasi (Kashi) has been brought in sacred urns. These Kalash are being taken to villages, localities and households so that the message of unity, brotherhood and an egalitarian society reaches every section of the people.
Billawaria further informed that the Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan commenced on July 29 and will continue till February 20, 2027. During this period, a series of programmes and public outreach activities will be organised to disseminate the teachings and ideals of Sant Guru Ravidas Ji and promote the message of social harmony on a wider scale.
Calling upon party functionaries and workers, Billawaria urged them to ensure maximum public participation in the forthcoming programmes and make the campaign broad-based and impactful. He called upon the workers to play an active role in taking the message of equality, humanity, brotherhood and social harmony of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Ji to every section of society.
