SRINAGAR: AMT School, Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar, organized a long-distance awareness march to educate the public about AIDS. Approximately 200 students participated in the 5-kilometer march, which started from AMT School Super Specialty Hospital and passed through city landmarks, including Kaka Sarai, SMHS Hospital, Government Medical College, Zaldagar, and Nawa Bazaar.

Administrator Associated Hospitals GMC Srinagar, Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, flagged-off the rally. Principal AMT, Razia, Medical Superintendent SSH, Dr. Rubeena, Deputy Medical Superintendent, Dr. Musadiq Ahmad, tutors, staff, and students attended the event.

Students carried placards displaying slogans on AIDS awareness, prevention, and societal role. They engaged with locals, discussing AIDS, its effects, and community involvement. GMC Srinagar has organized a series of events to promote AIDS awareness, reaffirming its commitment to health education and combating HIV/AIDS.

When he appointed me Editor-in-Chief of JK Monitor, he never treated me as an employee, but as a younger brother, offering warmth, trust, respect and invaluable guidance. I will always be grateful for his faith in me, his encouragement and the lessons he shared.

Dr. Ranjan was a rare and noble soul—humble, compassionate, intellectually brilliant and always willing to help others. A visionary thinker, he believed in using knowledge and abilities to make a meaningful difference. His influence lives on through the people he guided, the work he inspired and the countless lives he touched.

For me, he will always be the elder brother who believed in me and guided me with affection. I will cherish his kindness and lessons forever. May his soul rest in eternal peace. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
