BANDIPORA: On the directions of Transport Commissioner, J&K, Vishesh Pal Mahajan, and under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, the Motor Vehicles Department conducted an intensive enforcement drive across Kaloosa, Gulshan Chowk and adjoining areas of the district.

The special enforcement team of ARTO Bandipora conducted thorough checking of commercial and passenger vehicles, focusing on mandatory installation of speed governors, unauthorised operation of passenger vehicles and other violations of the Motor Vehicles Act and Rules.

During the drive, 230 vehicles were checked, out of which 55 were compounded, with an expected penalty realisation of approximately Rs 1,47,500. The driving licences of four violators were also recommended for suspension.

Transporters and drivers were sensitised and directed to follow traffic rules, comply with road safety requirements and avoid operating passenger vehicles from unauthorised locations to prevent traffic congestion and ensure smooth vehicular movement.

The Motor Vehicles Department reiterated that such enforcement drives will continue across the district to curb traffic violations, strengthen road safety and ensure better traffic management.

The general public, particularly transporters and commercial vehicle operators, have been urged to cooperate with the department and strictly adhere to traffic rules and statutory provisions.
