KATRA: In a proud moment for the sports wing of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Mr. Sumit Sharma, Sports Assistant, successfully earned National Certification in Sports Coaching in Athletics. He completed the prestigious certificate course in sports coaching in athletics conducted at the Sports Authority of India Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NSNIS) in Patiala, Punjab.
The course saw participation of the selected sports coaches from almost all the states and union territories of India. The certification program was conducted under the MassSports Participation Program initiated by the Sports Authority of India (SAI). Mr. Sharma successfully completed the course and demonstrated commendable technical proficiency and tactical understanding of the sport.
Mr. Sharma expressed his gratitude to the university, especially Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pragati Kumar and Dr. Parvez Singh Slathia, In Charge, Sports, for providing the opportunity to participate in the program. The vice-chancellor noted that such certifications by staff members enhance the university's capacity to train students in competitive sports like athletics, aligning with the university's mission to promote holistic development of the students.
