BARAMULLA: In a continued crackdown against illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, Police in Baramulla carried out successful enforcement actions in different areas of the district and seized three tractors involved in unlawful mining activities.
During area patrolling at Hurhandpur, Dargam, police teams intercepted two tractors engaged in illegal mineral extraction. The vehicles were being driven by Mudasir Ahmad Rather son of Ghulam Hussain Rather resident of Pakipora and Yasir Hassan son of Ghulam Hassan Wani resident of Dargam.
In a separate action, another tractor bearing Registration No. JK05P-0798 loaded with illegally extracted Bajri was seized by police. Subsequently, legal action under the provisions of the MMDR Act has been initiated in all the cases. J&K Police reiterates its firm commitment to act against illegal mining activities which pose a serious threat to the environment and public resources.
