GANDERBAL: In continuation of its sustained public outreach and community policing initiatives, Police in Ganderbal organized series of Police Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meetings at the village level across the district under the banner of the “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan.”

These meetings witnessed active participation from community members, including elders, youth, members of civil society, and representatives of local institutions. The primary objective of these interactions was to strengthen police-public relations, foster mutual trust, and seek community cooperation in addressing social issues, particularly the growing menace of drug abuse.

During the sessions, participants were sensitized about the ill effects of narcotics on individuals, families, and society at large. Emphasis was laid on the role of collective vigilance and community responsibility in identifying and reporting drug-related activities. The officers also highlighted the legal provisions under the NDPS Act and reiterated the firm commitment of Police to eradicate drug trafficking from the district.

Community members appreciated the initiative and assured full cooperation to the police in curbing drug abuse and maintaining peace and harmony. Several constructive suggestions were also put forth, which were duly noted for further action.

Police reaffirmed its resolve to continue such outreach programmes and awareness drives in the future, ensuring active public participation in building a safer and drug-free society.
