BARAMULLA, SHOPIAN, KUPWARA, AWANTIPORA: Continuing its sustained efforts to combat drug abuse and promote awareness among youth and the wider community, Police organized awareness programmes under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan in Baramulla, Shopian, Kupwara and Awantipora.
In Baramulla, police organized a comprehensive drug awareness programme at Higher Secondary School Fatehgarh Baramulla. The primary objective of the programme was to sensitize students, youth, and the general public about the harmful effects of drug abuse and its far-reaching impact on health, society, and future generations. During the session, SHO PS Sheeri and other officers highlighted the growing concern of drug addiction and stressed the importance of collective responsibility in eradicating this social evil.
In Shopian, awareness programmes were organised at High School Hardu Handew Imamsahib, High School Checkcholend, Reben Zainapora and Pad Yatra in Turkwangam. These programmes witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teaching staff, officials from the police and community members. Besides, awareness programmes under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan were organised at Govt. High School Aglar Zainapora, High School Batfogen and Upper Primary School Mashwara High School Chotipora. The initiative aimed to educate young minds about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encourage the adoption of a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
In Kupwara, police intensified its anti-drug campaign by organizing an awareness programme at Drugmulla in collaboration with the District Youth Services & Sports Department. The programme witnessed participation from school children, various departments, and members of civil society. The event aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and to promote a drug-free society.
In Awantipora, anti-drug awareness programmes were conducted at different locations across Police District Awantipora to sensitize the public about the harmful effects of drug abuse. At Tral, a drug awareness programme was conducted at Government High School Jawahirpora Laam under the supervision of SDPO Tral. Meanwhile, in Khrew, a drug awareness programme was organised at Wahab Sahab Khrew under the supervision of SDPO Pampore. Participants were sensitized about the dangers of drug abuse and were encouraged to adopt a healthy and responsible lifestyle.
During these sessions, speakers highlighted the growing menace of substance abuse and its far-reaching impact on individuals, families and society. Participants were also sensitized about the legal consequences of involvement in drug-related activities and were encouraged to act as ambassadors of change by spreading awareness within their communities.
J&K Police reiterated its commitment to continue such awareness drives as part of the ongoing 100 Days Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan, with the objective of building a safer and healthier society. Police remains committed to its mission of eliminating drug abuse and urges the public to actively support and cooperate in this ongoing fight against narcotics.
