JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu inaugurated the first batch ofOperational Management Programmein association with Directorate General Resettlement (DGR) on 09th April 2026, scheduled from 06th April to 22nd June 2026.

Brig. Chamoli graced the inaugural ceremony as the ChiefGuest, along with Col. Pardeep Singh Karki, Director Resettlement DirectorateNorth, and Lt. Col. Angad Singh Behl, SM, Joint Director Resettlement Directorate North. The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Faculty and Research, IIM Jammu. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Prof. Prashant Mishra, Chairperson, Executive Education &Consultancy, and Dr. Kapil Gumte, Program Director, IIM Jammu. Brigadier Neeraj Soni is also the Program Director for this training program.The inaugural ceremony commenced with the traditional lamp-lightingceremony, followed by a felicitation of dignitaries.

The programmecoordinated by the IIM Jammu Executive Education and Consultancy (EE&C), IIM Jammu, is designed to equip Army and Air Force personnel with industry-relevant competencies, enabling a seamless transition into their second careers.A total of 31 Armed Forces officials from across the country have joined the programme, marking a significant step towards empowering the nation’s defenders with advanced managerial and operational skills. Spanning 2.5 months with over 150 hours of intensive face-to-face sessions, the programme focuses on Entrepreneurship, Technology Orientation, and Job Readiness, ensuring a smooth transition from military to civilian professional roles.

Chief Guest Brig. Chamoli, in his address, described the programme as a pioneering initiative and emphasized its importance in preparing armed forces personnel for their second innings. He stressed the need for skill development aligned with industry demands and advocated for delivering the curriculum in accessible language, including Hindi. Highlighting the growing opportunities in logistics and supply chain domains, he urged participants to learn sincerely, remain connected with IIM Jammu, and contribute back to society. He noted that the fusion of defence discipline with civilian industry practices creates a strong foundation for success in diverse professional roles.

Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Faculty and Research, IIM Jammu welcomed the dignitaries and participants and appreciated the discipline, focus, and adaptability of armed forces personnel. He emphasized the importance of aligning existing skill sets with evolving industry requirements and encouraged active participation in the programme. He also highlighted the need to build collaborative networks and leverage institutional support, including placement assistance, to explore diverse career pathways such as corporate roles, entrepreneurship, and technical domains. He urged participants to make the most of this transformative phase and emerge with strong, industry-aligned competencies.

Prof. Prashant Mishra highlighted the strong synergy between IIM Jammu and the armed forces ecosystem. He elaborated on the role of Executive Education & Consultancy in bridging academia and industry, including collaborations with Public Sector Undertakings. He emphasized that the institute is committed to giving back to society and encouraged participants to become part of the IIM Jammu ecosystem and contribute meaningfully to their future roles.

Col. Pardeep Karki, Director Resettlement Directorate North provided insights into various post-training opportunities, encouraging participants to explore avenues such as government employment, entrepreneurship, agriculture, and schemes including the Prime Minister Employment initiatives and Jan Aushadhi Kendras. He stressed the importance of clearly defining career goals and making effective use of available resources.

Dr. Kapil Gumte, Programme Director, IIM Jammu in his welcome address, outlined the 2.5-month programme, covering Lean Six Sigma, Public-Private Partnerships, Artificial Intelligence, business skills, and advanced technologies. He emphasized its focus on real-world industry insights and developing skilled professionals, urging participants to actively engage, collaborate, and make the most of the opportunity.

Lt. Col. Angad Behl, SM, Joint Director Resettlement Directorate Northalso interacted with the participants and emphasized the importance of structured resettlement planning and continuous skill enhancement.

The programme reflects IIM Jammu’s commitment to nation-building by enabling defence personnel to transition into impactful civilian roles, creating a strong synergy between defence experience and modern management practices. The inaugural ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Kapil Gumte, Program Director followed by the national anthem.
