JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu concluded Phase I of the Leadership Development Program for Young Managers (Batch-IV) conducted for executives of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) on 22nd May 2026 at Chanakya Classroom. The five-day intensive programme was designed to equip young managers with contemporary leadership competencies, strategic thinking, and collaborative management capabilities. The training program consisted of 52 participants.
Addressing the participants through online mode, Shri Sanjay Dhar, Executive Director, HR-L&D, MTI SAIL, congratulated the participants on the completion of Phase-I of the training programme. In his insightful address, he urged participants to utilize their time meaningfully, prepare and learn collectively in groups, and move forward through teamwork and cross-functional collaboration.
He emphasized the importance of strengthening one’s ability to engage effectively, avoiding the trap of comfort zones, and continuously demonstrating higher-order cognitive abilities and critical thinking.Encouraging participants to embrace innovation and leadership, he remarked that individuals must take new initiatives and develop broader perspectives, adding that after attending IIM Jammu, the participants’ approach towards situations, challenges, and opportunities should undergo a meaningful transformation. He emphasized that when one begins to view things from a new perspective, one naturally starts seeing possibilities differently.
The completion of the first phase of training programme commenced with the Welcome Address and Program Overview by Dr. Lalit Pankaj, Program Director, who highlighted the objectives, structure, and key learning outcomes of the five-day programme, emphasizing its focus on developing agile, future-ready leadership among young professionals.
The occasion was graced by Shri Sanjay Dhar, Executive Director, HR-L&D, MTI SAIL; Prof. Rajesh Sikka, Co-Chairperson, Executive Education & Consultancy on Online mode,along with the Programme Directors Dr. Prakrit Sillal, Dr. Lalit Pankaj, and Dr. Pranjal Pachpore.
Participant reflections underscored the transformative learning experience offered by the programme. Participants expressed keen interest in continued engagement with IIM Jammu and proposed that faculty members visit SAIL plants to develop plant-based case studies and case-led learning modules. Such initiatives, they noted, would help translate organizational realities into actionable management insights and strengthen collaborative knowledge creation between industry and academia.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Prakrit Sillal, Program Director, who expressed gratitude to the leadership of SAIL, distinguished speakers, participants, and the organizing team for their contribution towards the successful execution of the programme.
The programme reaffirmed IIM Jammu’s commitment towards executive education excellence and strengthening industry-academia collaboration by nurturing transformational leadership and managerial effectiveness among professionals.The training program was coordinated by Executive Education and Consultancy, IIM Jammu.
