SOPORE: As part of the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, J&K Police organized a series of drug awareness and de-addiction programmes across educational institutions in Sopore and Rafiabad to sensitize students, teachers and members of civil society about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
A drug awareness programme was conducted at Government Middle School Batpora, Rafiabad, which witnessed participation from teachers, students and local residents. During the programme, participants were sensitized about the social, legal and health consequences of narcotics abuse, while community elders were urged to play a proactive role in protecting youth from the menace of drugs. Students were encouraged to spread the message of “Say No to Drugs” in their respective villages and communities.
In continuation of the campaign, another awareness programme was held at Government High School Balhama, Rafiabad, where students and faculty members were briefed about the provisions of the NDPS Act, early warning signs of substance abuse and the importance of timely intervention by parents and teachers. The school administration appreciated the outreach efforts of J&K Police.
An additional awareness programme was organized at Gulzar Memorial Educational Institute, Nowpora Sopore, in collaboration with the local administration. More than 70 students participated in the programme. Interactive sessions were conducted on the role of youth in building a drug-free society, resisting peer pressure and channelizing energy towards education, sports and constructive activities. Awareness literature and pamphlets on prevention of drug abuse were also distributed among the participants.
J&K Police, under the 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, continues to reach out to schools, educational institutions, religious bodies and public spaces to create a mass movement against drugs. The objective is to combine awareness, enforcement and community participation to dismantle the drug network and safeguard the younger generation from substance abuse. J&K Police reiterated their commitment to continue sustained awareness and enforcement initiatives to build a safer, healthier and drug-free society.
