JAMMU: A three-day Skill Development Workshop on Translation- Dogri, Hindi, Punjabi, and Urduorganized by National Translation Mission, Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysore in collaboration with School of Languages, Central University of Jammu Concluded at the Central University of Jammu under the patronage of Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain.
The workshop promoted multilingual competence and developed translation skills among students, research scholars, and language practitioners with thrust on Dogri, Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu. The NTM expressed gratitude to patron Prof. Jain for collaborating for future work and providing all support. Prof. Jain as an acclaimed administrator and academic underscored the significance of the ending language hierarchy. Prof. Vandana Sharma, Dean, School of Languages and coordinator of the workshop thanked NTM and resource persons from NTM, Mr. Sunil Chowdhary, Mr. Jafar Mir and coordinator, Dr. Tariq Khan officer-in- charge National Translation Mission (NTM) and academic secretary CentralInstitute of Indian Languages (CIIL) Mysore.
In the three days hands on training in the workshop, eminent translators and academics were resource persons – Prof. Garima Gupta, Dr. Padam Dev Singh from University of Jammu; Prof. Sudhir Singh, Principal, GDC, Qazikund; Sh. OP Vidyarthi, Sahitya Akademi awardee and retired PCCF; Prof. Vandana Sharma, Dr. Bhawna Arora and Dr. Shashikant Mishra from Central University of Jammu and Dr. Shalini Rana from GCO. 55 participants from different languages and disciplines were trained in the workshop who will be carrying forward the mission of NTM and vision of NEP-2020.
