SONAMARG: In a vibrant display of community resolve against substance abuse, the District Administration Ganderbal, in collaboration with the Sonamarg Development Authority (SDA), today organized a massive Pony Rally under the aegis of the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan (NMBA@100). The event, saw a spirited procession of local pony wallas, other unions and youth traversing the scenic landscapes of Sonamarg to spread the message of a drug-free India.

 Participants carried national flags and banners with slogans such as "Say No to Drugs," highlighting the collective responsibility of the tourism sector in combating the drug menace. Speaking on the sidelines of the rally, Chief Executive Officer, Sonamarg Development Authority, Bilal Mukhtar Dar, emphasized the importance of involving the local tourism stakeholders in social causes.

He said Sonamarg is not just a crown jewel of our tourism industry; it is a community of resilient individuals. By mobilizing our Pony and other unions today, we are sending a loud and clear message from the peaks of Ganderbal that there is no place for drugs in our society. Our goal is to ensure that as we grow as a premier destination, our youth remain healthy, empowered, and focused on a productive future, he remarked.

The rally started from the main Sonamarg market and culminated at the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC), where participants took a solemn pledge to keep their families and profession free from the influence of narcotics.

The event was attended by senior officials from the District Administration, members of the Sonamarg Development Authority, and representatives of various local trade and tourism unions.
